Our Process

We believe that for you to get the best service out there, you should be as informed as possible. When you choose to work with us, we’ll guide you through each step of our process and ensure that all local requirements and guidelines are met. Here’s a quick breakdown of what to expect from the process.

The Permit Process

  1. Survey/Site Plan: We’ll help you understand what sort of survey you need for your project, as each town has its own requirements. The survey can take 2-3 weeks, and this part is not included in our quote, so plan accordingly.
  2. Engineered Drawings: For walls over 4’ tall, a drawing must be made by a certified Georgia engineer for the project. This drawing will include important details such as how the wall needs to be built and with what materials. We can personally handle these engineered drawings if they’re needed.
  3. Permit: The next step is to obtain a permit for the project. The requirements for obtaining a permit vary from town to town and county to county, but we can help you figure out exactly what forms and items you’ll need before you apply. This step is factored into our quotes.
  4. Pre-Construction: Before work begins, you may have to take some precautionary measures, such as posting your permit at the site or installing siltation control and safety fencing. Then, any necessary inspections will occur and you’ll soon be given the green light once all the requirements are met.

Once Work Begins

  1. Utility Marking: A representative from #811 Utilities Locate will come to your property and mark the utilities you have underground. This will ensure no vital utilities are damaged during construction. Let us know if anyone tampers with these markers, as it is a safety concern.
  2. Mobilizing: With everything set, we’ll start to begin the process of moving tools, equipment, and materials to your property. Due to the weight of many of our tools, we ask that you keep some distance from them and be patient with us. We’ll do our best to give you accurate arrival timelines.
  3. The Work: Once everything is on-site, we’ll begin our work. Over the course of the project, we will do our best to be as little of a disturbance as possible and keep the site orderly. At the end of the work, we’ll grade, straw, and seed damaged lawn areas and clean up any messes we leave throughout the duration. Please note that heavy rain can impact the project schedule by up to 3 days per rain event.
  4. Unforeseen Conditions: There are a variety of unforeseen conditions that can arise during work, such as the discovery of large rock deposits, unsuitable soils, or cut cable lines. These all entail different courses of action from us and from you, but we’ll work with you to find appropriate solutions.
  5. Warnings: There are a few things to be careful about during our work. First, do not let children or animals around our equipment or the project area while it is in construction, as it can be dangerous. Second, dust that we create during certain construction projects is not safe to breathe, so keep nearby doors and windows closed, and also keep people away from cutting activities.
